The web: main source of information for international real estate research
The”Immobiliare.it” site with its international partner “LuxuryEstate.com” confirms the growing demand for information for Italian property from international buyers. Both sites have studied Internet traffic made from abroad to Italy from January 2013 in order to obtain information on the real estate trends.
Rome and its surroundings is by far the province that foreigners perform the greatest number of searches, amounting to 9% of the total searches. Como and Milan follow, which share another 5% of all searches conducted from abroad. Some interesting elements can be found in the preferences indicated by foreigners: the Germans, not surprisingly, are mainly oriented towards the provinces of Verona, Brescia, and Rome; our French cousins rather prefer Rome and Milan without disdaining resorts in the province of Imperia. The British, who always make Italy a preferred destination for real estate investment, point to Milan and Rome, followed by Imperia, La Spezia and Bari. The Russians are interested in prestigious locations such as the Costa Smeralda in Sardinia , but they are also interested in Oristano, Rome, and Venice.
Another curious fact: the province most coveted by the citizens of Netherlands is Forlì-Cesena; for the Swedish it is Palermo; for Norwegians it is Asti; for Danes it is Trento; and for the Irish it is Monza Brianza. Outside of Europe, the situation is even more specific: for citizens of the United States, the province of Vicenza is the most sought after, clearly because of the military base in the U.S. Army Camp Ederle. It is followed by the provinces of Ragusa, Isernia, and Florence. Researches by Argentinean citizens show Rome as the ideal destination, perhaps thanks to the election of their fellow countryman to the papal throne! Even Canadians still aim for Rome, followed by Cosenza, Grosseto, Milan and Benevento. There are very few tourist destinations. One can’t help but to think that the real estate search is related to return migration.
